First Monday Toy Auction

About the First Monday Toy Auction

The First Monday Toy Auction is held on the first Monday of each month at 6:00pm Sydney time. You can participate in our auctions by attending the auction in our Auction Rooms at Katoomba, online through Invaluable, or by leaving absentee bids prior to the auction.

Live Video
Our auctions are broadcast live on the internet using streaming video and audio. Yes, we are actually there conducting the auction in our auction rooms, and you can watch us in action. Our video broadcast includes extra information and running commentaries by toy experts. And, of course, you will be able to see the items we are offering for sale.

Viewing
This is not just an internet auction. The items can be viewed at our Auction Rooms on the Saturday before the auction and on the day of the auction. Come along and see – and feel – the items for yourself. You are also welcome to attend the auction and participate as a bidder, or as part of our audience.

Room Bidding
This is a public auction and all are welcome to attend and place bids. It costs nothing to register as a bidder.

Absentee Bidding
Absentee bids may be left on items during viewings, online on our website, or by phone or email. Click here for further details. Bids may also be left online at invaluable.com.

Online Bidding
If you wish to participate online during the auction, you must first register with Invaluable. Please see How to Bid Online. If you already have an account with invaluable.com, artfact.com or auctionzip.com, you can register through your existing account. On the day of the auction you can log in to the bidding console one hour before the auction commences. Please allow plenty of time to ensure that you have been accepted as a bidder and that you can successfully log in. If you have any problems logging in, see Trouble-shooting or contact us.

Auction Dates
Our First Monday Toy Auction is usually held, naturally, on the first Monday of each month. But occasionally we have to move it to the second Monday when we have other commitments. Also we do not hold an auction on the first Monday of January, since everyone is still in holiday mode.

Buyer's Premium
A 15% buyer's premium applies to all successful bids (includes GST). An online bidding fee of 5% is charged by our online auction hosts Invaluable and AuctionZip for successful bids placed with them (total fees for online bidders 20%).

Bidding Increments
Bidding in our auctions proceeds according to set bidding increments. We request that bidders follow these increments when placing bids. See our Auction Terms & Conditions for details.

Postage & Handling
Unlike many auction houses, we are happy to package and send goods anywhere in the world. To help cover our costs, we charge a small handling fee and have a minimum shipping charge of $30. International postage is based on weight, so please take this into account when you are placing bids.

Pickup
Purchased goods may be picked up during the auction, or during our regular opening times.

Please note that all prices advertised and all bids submitted are in Australian dollars (AUD).

Auction Rooms

Our regular auctions and viewings are conducted in our Auction Rooms at The Gearin in Katoomba.

You are welcome to attend our public auctions, either to bid or simply to watch. We are just across the road from Katoomba station and there is plenty of parking nearby.
