About Our First Monday Toy Auction
The First Monday Toy Auction is held on the first Monday of each month at 6:00pm Sydney time. You can participate in our auctions by attending the auction venue in Mount Victoria, online through Invaluable, or by leaving absentee bids prior to the auction.
Our auctions are broadcast live on the internet using streaming video and audio. Yes, we are actually there conducting the auction at our Mount Victoria venue, and you can watch us in action. Our video broadcast includes extra information and running commentaries by toy experts. And, of course, you will be able to see the items we are offering for sale.
This is not just an internet auction. The items can be viewed at our Annandale gallery on Saturdays from 10:00am to 4:00pm and at other times by appointment; and at our auction venue in Mount Victoria from 3:00pm on the day of the auction. Come along and see – and feel – the items for yourself. You are also welcome to attend the auction and participate as a bidder, or as part of our audience.
This is a public auction and all are welcome to attend and place bids. To register as a bidder, simply come along on the day and give us your details. It costs nothing to register as a bidder.
Absentee bids may be left on items during the viewings, at other times at our Blackheath and Annandale galleries, online on our website, or by phone or email. Click here for further details. Bids may also be left online at invaluable.com. Telephone bidding during the auction is available by prior arrangement.
If you wish to participate online during the auction, you must first register with Invaluable. Please see How to Bid Online. If you already have an account with invaluable.com, artfact.com or auctionzip.com, you can register through your existing account. On the day of the auction you can log in to the bidding console one hour before the auction commences. Please allow plenty of time to ensure that you have been accepted as a bidder and that you can successfully log in. If you have any problems logging in, see Trouble-shooting or contact us.
Our First Monday Toy Auction is usualy held, naturally, on the first Monday of each month. But occasionally we have to move it to the second Monday when we have other commitments. For example, every year we attend the Sydney Model Railway Exhibition which is held on the first weekend in October, so our October auction is always held one week later. Also we do not hold an auction on the first Monday of January, since everyone is still in holiday mode. See the panel on the left for a list of the next few months' auction dates. Or join our mailing list and we'll send you notifications of forthcoming auctions.
A 13.5% buyer's premium applies to all successful bids (includes GST). An online bidding fee of 5% is charged by our online auction hosts Invaluable and AuctionZip for successful bids placed with them (total fees for online bidders 18.5%).
Bidding in our auctions proceeds according to set bidding increments, which are listed in the panel on the left. We request that bidders follow these increments when placing bids.
Postage & Handling
We are happy to package and send goods anywhere in the world, and we charge a small handling fee to help cover our costs. We keep this fee as low as we can, but we have no control over the postage charges. International postage is based on weight, so please take this into account when you are placing bids.
Please note that all prices advertised and all bids submitted are in Australian dollars (AUD).
For over three years we have been conducting our auctions at St Peter's Anglican Church Hall in Mount Victoria. Our Blue Mountains gallery moved to Blackheath two years ago, but we still have strong ties to Mount Victoria and continue to hold our auctions there.
You are welcome to attend our auctions in Mount Victoria, either to bid or simply to watch. Our First Monday Toy Auctions commence at 6:00pm on the first Monday of the month, with viewing open from 3:00pm. There is plenty of parking, and refreshments are available. But watch out for kangaroos.
